Geologist with ERD experience needed CDI ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS HAS AN IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION TO BE LOCATED AT OUR CLIENT SITE AT THE NORTH SLOPE OF ALASKA. CDI Engineering currently has several openings for experienced Geologist with ERD (Extended Reach Drilling) Experience. ERD IS A MUST. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Seeking 2 to 4 wellsite geologists needed be to dedicated to drilling operations. Two staff will work 12 hour shifts and rotate on an approximate 2 week schedule. These ultra ERD wells will drill to depths in excess of 40,000 feet & take approximately 200 days to complete. Start Date May 2010. Duration of assignment approx 11 months. RESPONSIBLITIES: • Act as the on-site representative of the office subsurface team • Regular, effective communications with subsurface team and drilling rig team • Evaluate data gathered while drilling against pre drill predictions • Analyze, evaluate and describe formations while drilling, using cuttings, gas, LWD, MWD & other data • Describe cuttings morphology and interpret for wellbore stability • Supervise mud logging, formation evaluation and services personnel. Monitor and report on quality control of these services • Advise on potential drilling hazards - especially indications of hole stability • Advise on casing point picks, geosteering, correlation intervals & picking TD • Participate in post section reviews REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: • Wellsite geologist on ERD (extended reach drilling) wells • Prediction and detection of pore pressure and fracture gradients from drilling and log data • MWD data interpretation in high angle wells with a focus on wellbore stability, log quality and prediction & identification of drilling hazards • Quality assurance of LWD logging tools • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal • Up-to-date knowledge of MWD (measurement while drilling) tools • Computer skills with spreadsheets and digital photography are essential • Practical knowledge of North Slope Stratigraphy is desirable • Experience with manipulating witsml data is desirable ... Read more »
